The taste of creamy fruit, balanced with snappy acidity and ambrosial fruits. After 100% malolactic fermentation, this Chardonnay is as Californian as Chardonnay can be: full of butterscotch, oak spice, and baked apple, followed by a enviously rich finish.

We call this our ‘over-the-border’ Chardonnay, a wine from Dijon clones straight from Burgundy. This elegant Chardonnay, fermented for 10 months in French oak on stirred lees, takes on a French spirit with Californian romance, resulting is a fresh wine with classic Chardonnay aromas: baked apple, lemon zest, ripe melon, with butterscotch, oak spices, and buttered toast.

From the thin soils of the Green Valley, resulting in exotic spices, bold intensity, and high tannins.

Green Valley is a microcosm of American Burgundy, known for its exceptional Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Sanchietti Vineyard itself is a famous, not only in Green Valley, but in the entire Russian River AVA, for its exceptional Pinot Noir fruit. Phrases like “exceptional intensity” and “exotic flavor profile” come from reviewers of Sanchietti fruit who acknowledge its greatness.  This particular installment is lithe and gently voluptuous, bold, for a Pinot, yet layered in Green earthiness. Deep garnet, the glass holds aromas of blackberry, black cherry and black plum with toasty oak notes, followed by juicy black stone fruits, blackberries and spiced smoky oak on the palate.

The taste of Viansa’s Italian varietals, straight from the Isabel block of our Estate. Two full years in oak leave this wines complexly spicy and full of ripe berries (cranberry, raspberry, and black cherry).

A spicy, complex Sangiovese from the hillside Isabel Block of Viansa estate's Ron's Vineyard, this is thoroughly-oaked Sangiovese with a solid layer of vanilla smoothness.  Aged 2 years in French oak barrels and blended with Primitivo (for extra fruit and roundness) and Teroldego (for deeper color and added structure), this wine features up-front fruit with complex layers of spiciness. Flavors of cranberry, vanilla oak, red and black cherry and raspberry come out in slow succession on the palate as the drinker takes in the Italian style and the California terroir in a long, luxurious sip.

Sangiovese, Primitivo and Zinfandel, the Santa Trinità of Italian varietals, bred together for its amorous body and broad aromatics.  Structure from the Sangiovese, spiciness from the Zinfandel, and texture from the Primitivo result in a prestigious blend, perfect for meats and cheese.

The fruit is from Sonoma Valley, our own piccola Italia. The Sangiovese (65%) brings a level of structure and acidity that leaves layers of textured fruits in the glass.  Primitivo (30%) comes into play on the immediate palate, providing a round, spice-forward mouthfeel for immediate gratification. And the touch of Zin (5%) is the secret element, adding a touch of worldwide spices that beg for a Tuscan pasta dish.

Barrel aged for 20 months, this is our richest, fullest red, dense with the Mediterranean style of its ancestors.  Sun-kissed and fruit-forward, this is a wine as ready for the dinner table as it is for the cellar.

Primitivo fruit is said to have come into Italy from Greece, the land of its ancestral beginning.  The Greco-Roman power seems to have manifested itself into this sovereign wine, bringing to the glass bold notes of fresh crushed berries and a expertly full (though never ‘heavy’) body.  Its 20 months in barrel incorporates a bittersweet chocolate layer onto the palate, along with hints of vanilla and toast. Our winemaking team adds a touch of Sangiovese (5%) to bring out the full flavor potential of each wine, utilizing the naturally full flavors of each varietal instead of chemical alteration.  With wondrous levels of berry, this wine holds a white peppery character, along with toasted almond on its lengthy finish.  As with all our Italian blends, we recommend a food pairing straight from the homeland: in this case, any Mediterranean Coastal dish is the perfect match.

This Zin comes from a small vineyard in the warmer interior valleys of Sonoma County.  Fruit is picked at the peak of ripeness, yielding an extraordinary wine that bursts with spicy briary red currants and blackberries, along with hints of crushed peppercorns.

We call this Zin our most concentrated red.  Full of bursting aromas and traditional Zinfandel flavors, this makes for the perfect Zin for a festive event.  The vines grow in the interior of Sonoma County, an area that receives Sonoma sunlight without the cooling from the extremities of the Valley.  Picked at peak ripeness, the fruit crushes into richly flavorful wine, touched with blackberry and crushed peppercorns and laced with red currant and spice.  The memorability in the class comes after the finish: seemingly never-ending length, stretching along the palate minutes after the glass is empty.

Though we’d never pick favorites, we can’t help but feel a particularly loyalty to the fruit from Lloyd’s Vineyard. Hand-selected by our President, the resulting wine is 100% fruity, luscious, spice-and-vanilla red great for aging or drinking tonight.

Russian River Syrah is one of California’s great viticultural secrets. Bolder than a Pinot, but lighter than a Cab or Merlot, this is a fruit-forward, medium-bodied balance of possible extremes in flavor profile.  The ‘08 Syrah comes from Lloyd’s Vineyard in the Russian River Valley; 100% Single Vineyard Syrah, this is a personal favorite of President Lloyd, grown and selected under his supervision to ensure the highest-quality fruit and wine.  The resulting Syrah is rich and firm, with supple tannins, full of dark fruits, spice and vanilla; with pizza, pasta, or an herbed roast, this is a great wine for any evening (though it boasts 5-10 years of aging potential.

From a grape that needs the morning sun, this is structure in the glass, with blackberry, chocolate and toasted walnut, for a full-bodied red for our Italians at heart.

We say ‘salute’ to more than meets the eye in the Morning Sun Barbera. The grapes themselves are bold and outspoken, seeming to put forth a little attitude in the palatal first impression.  Explosively fruity with continually exerting power, this wine expresses the warm sun from its home vineyard.  As the drinker spends some time with the glass, however, a more layered personality shows: its 29 months in 100% new oak relax the texture and body into a personable, friendly wine ready for drinking any time. This well-structured wine produces aromas of blackberry, chocolate, cedar, toffee, and toasty oak. Its rich mouth feel, soft, mature tannins and smooth finish are sure to delight the palate.

Worthy of the most impressive menus, this is our wine of prestige; lighter and earthier than the ‘09, this is another representation of the land-honoring Viansa Cabernet.

This Signature cab is all about the vineyard: Laurel Glen is 16 acres of Cabernet vines, just above the daily breath of fog that covers the Sonoma Valley floor.  The vines, planted in the late 19th century by German immigrants, peer 800-100 feet above Glen Ellen. The vineyard itself faces southeast, receiving the warmth of the morning sun, but avoiding the sunburn of the late afternoon.  The reddish volcanic soil gives this wine a spirited acidity in the glass, overlain with dark fruits and firm tannins. Drinking well now until 2019, this is a literal signature of Viansa’s best.

The strength of California and the quaint Sonoma energy come together in the glass of well-structured Cab, laced with black cherry, cocoa, and notes of sweet oak.

Our 100% Cabernet Sauvignon comes from Emery Vineyard in Sonoma, positioned perfectly for the warm summer sun. Strong and bold, this fruit needs every day of its 16 months in new French oak to relax the tannic structure and incorporate the smooth, vanilla mouthfeel into the wine. The result is a rich and expressive Cab that blends California strength with small-vineyard Sonoma fruitiness. The nose offers complex aromas of rope cherry, cassis, cedar and oak spice with a concentrated palate of black cherry, cassis, cocoa, pepper and sweet oak.  The encore of this wine is the grand appeal: a seemingly everlasting fruit-filled finish, structured with firm, bold tannins.
