Our 2012 Aleatico Rose is a lighty sweet rose with tasting notes of roses, strawberry, sweet citrus and lychee.
Our 2012 Aleatico Rosé originates from a small vineyard on Serres Ranch in the center of Sonoma Valley, thus only 590 cases were produced. Aleatico is a rare red grape believed to be related to Muscat and typically found only in the Puglia and Lazio regions of Italy, as well as Elba, where Napoleon was exiled and reportedly favored this particular wine. Viansa brings Italy to you in this unique rosé, just in time for summer.
The signature blush color of rosé wines is produced through contact with the red skins of the grapes. Rosé wines are only in contact with the skins briefly, compared to reds, leading to their lighter, pink hue. Our Aleatico grapes are harvested by hand, crushed and cold soaked, then lightly pressed to preserve their delicate flavors.
The 2012 will be the second vintage of this lightly sweet rosé, and it has quickly become a summertime staple for its easy drinkability on its own, as well as its food-friendly nature. With its tasting notes of roses, strawberry, sweet citrus and lychee, this versatile rosé served slightly chilled (55 degrees) is highly complementary with a wide variety of foods — think blue cheese, chicken salad sandwiches, a fresh fruit tart, or Thai cuisine!
