Food Pairings

Pair with a classic Lasagna Bolognese, where the wine’s full-bodied structure complements the dish’s richness. Bright acidity and vibrant fruit cut through savory meat and creamy cheese, while the lasagna’s hearty texture softens the tannins, creating a seamless and satisfying match.

Label Artwork

Inspired by the early ripening tendencies of Primitivo (bunches are often harvested while half of the berries are still green) and the colors of Puglia, the home of Primitivo.

Vineyard Notes

Our Primitivo is sourced from the Santo Giordano Vineyard, located just south of the Viansa Estate. Originally planted by Sam Sebastiani and Jordan Smith, this site has a long history of producing high-quality fruit. The vines are established on a northeast-facing slope that captures morning sun while protecting the fruit from excessive afternoon heat, allowing for steady, even ripening. Well-drained soils, coupled with consistent coastal breezes, promote concentration of flavor while retaining natural acidity.

Winemaker Notes
The grapes were harvested in the cool of the morning and destemmed before a brief cold soak to enhance color and flavor. Fermentation on the skins developed depth and structure, followed by gentle pressing and settling. The wine was then aged in barrel for 16 months to integrate tannins, build complexity, and add subtle oak influence before bottling.

Our Label Story

Behind the Marble

Our wine labels are more than decoration—they reflect heritage, craftsmanship, and our Italian roots. Inspired by the hand-painted frescoes once featured on past bottles, in 2018 we set out to reintroduce authentic Italian artistry in a fresh, modern way. That vision led us to Maria Giannini, a sixth-generation artisan and the first woman to lead her family’s 150-year-old marbling studio, Giulio Giannini e Figlio, in Florence.

Maria’s hand-marbled papers, crafted with traditional tools and natural pigments, form the foundation of our Terra and Altura Collection labels. Each wine features a unique pattern and color palette inspired by its distinct flavor profile and story, interpreted through a close collaboration between Maria and Viansa.
