This wine opens with inviting aromatics of juicy dried cranberries and rhubarb. On the palate, these bright fruit notes continue, joined by flavors of ripe blueberry and a touch of warm cinnamon spice, all framed by lush, well-integrated tannins.

Food Pairings

Pair with lamb kebabs seasoned with cumin and paprika, served with grilled vegetables. The wine’s brambly dark fruit and peppery notes will complement the earthy lamb and aromatic spices.

Vineyard Notes

Sourced from the Portola Vineyard, this 100% Zinfandel hails from 60-year-old vines rooted in Dry Creek Valley’s distinctive maritime climate. Cool, foggy mornings and evenings give way to warm, sun-drenched days, a diurnal shift that promotes gradual ripening, complex flavor development, and balanced acidity. The mature, low-yielding vines naturally concentrate the grape’s intensity, resulting in a Zinfandel that marries the varietal’s vibrant fruit with the nuanced elegance of the coastal influence.

Winemaker Notes

Grapes were hand-harvested in the early morning and destemmed to tank for cold soak for 48 hours. The tank was then gently warmed to 80°F and inoculated with William Seylem yeast, chosen for its ability to boost fruit and spice aromatics. The wine was pumped over the skins twice a day for 13 days before being drained and gently pressed. The wine was aged in oak for 17 months before being bottled.

Our Label Story

Behind the Marble

Our wine labels are more than decoration—they reflect heritage, craftsmanship, and our Italian roots. Inspired by the hand-painted frescoes once featured on past bottles, in 2018 we set out to reintroduce authentic Italian artistry in a fresh, modern way. That vision led us to Maria Giannini, a sixth-generation artisan and the first woman to lead her family’s 150-year-old marbling studio, Giulio Giannini e Figlio, in Florence.

Maria’s hand-marbled papers, crafted with traditional tools and natural pigments, form the foundation of our Terra and Altura Collection labels. Each wine features a unique pattern and color palette inspired by its distinct flavor profile and story, interpreted through a close collaboration between Maria and Viansa.
