Label Artwork

Verdant and bright, with a touch of tradition. This piece incorporates one of the Giannini’s more traditional styles (combing). This piece represents our approachable Italian white wines, like Pinot Grigio and Bianchetta Trevigiana.

Vineyard Notes

Sandy Bend Vineyard is a certified sustainably farmed vineyard in Upper Lake. At 1,400 feet above sea level, this vineyard sees temperature differences of 40°F between day and night, which gives the vines warm days for ripening and cool nights to repair from the heat.

Winemaker Notes

Whole clusters we gently pressed, and juice settled in tank for 48 hours until the turbidity was under 50 NTU. The clear juice was racked off the heavy solids to a second tank where it was inoculated with VL3 yeast. This strain is known to heighten thiol aromatics and increase roundness while making an elegant, finessed wine. Fermentation lasted two weeks at 55°F and the fermentation was arrested to keep the natural sweetness of the grapes. This was done by stepped-down chilling of the tank to 30°F and then adding sulfur to further inhibit fermentation. The wine was held at 30°F for three months before being filtered and bottled.

Our Label Story

Behind the Marble

Our wine labels are more than decoration—they reflect heritage, craftsmanship, and our Italian roots. Inspired by the hand-painted frescoes once featured on past bottles, in 2018 we set out to reintroduce authentic Italian artistry in a fresh, modern way. That vision led us to Maria Giannini, a sixth-generation artisan and the first woman to lead her family’s 150-year-old marbling studio, Giulio Giannini e Figlio, in Florence.

Maria’s hand-marbled papers, crafted with traditional tools and natural pigments, form the foundation of our Terra and Altura Collection labels. Each wine features a unique pattern and color palette inspired by its distinct flavor profile and story, interpreted through a close collaboration between Maria and Viansa.
